ON-SITE NITROGEN GENERATORS
R2 GAS Ltd nitrogen generators operate on the Pressure Swing Adsorption principle (PSA) to produce a continuous nitrogen flow from compressed air.

The system consist of two series of extruded aluminium towers, filled with "carbon molecular sieve" (*) (CMS) in order to adsorb the oxygen molecules.

A pre-treated compressed air flow goes through the towers from CMS bottom, up through. Oxygen is absorbed by the CMS, thus nitrogen get to the cylinders top where it is collected in a buffer vessel.

The working columns series is "on-line" for a pre-set period of time. When it is almost saturated with absorbed gases, the system automatically turns the columns into regenerative mode, where the internal contents of the columns is vented out into atmosphere. The second CMS columns series is then put on-line condition and starts the filtration process.

The system of columns in pair switches between separation and regeneration modes, allowing a continuous nitrogen output flow directly to the customer pipeline, with production up to hundreds of cubic meters per hour and a purity level up to 99,995%.

(*) Carbon molecular sieve differs from ordinary activated carbons because they have a much narrower pore opening size.

This allows small molecules, such oxygen ones, to enter the pores and be separated from nitrogen molecules which are too big in size to enter the CMS.

The larger nitrogen molecules bypass the CMS and go straight to the buffer vessel ready to be used.
