The DPSH function is to purify the HYDROGEN from the residual content of HUMIDITY and OXYGEN, which are present into the Hydrogen when it is produced by electrolytic way.
In many industrial applications in fact, a pure gas with very high purity is required, thus the standard level of 99.5%, typical of gases produced with ON-SITE generators or supplied in bottles, is not sufficient.
Industrial applications requiring pure gas are continuously increasing. Pure gas finds its use into many applications like heat treatments, sintering, electronics and so on; that's the reason to use devices capable of guaranteeing the needed high grades of gas purity.
The DPSH treatment device has three essential functions:
Purification : elimination of any residual traces of electrolytic solution or other impurity.
Deoxying : elimination of any residual oxygen traces up to infinitesimal values (few ppm).
Drying : elimination of any residual humidity content (at vapour level) up to infinitesimal ppm values (fractions of ppm).
These functions are realized using active beds filters, catalysts, and drying hygroscopic salt..
To improve the drying function a Freon condensation step is used, which eliminate almost all the humidity present into the gas before its drying step through hygroscopic salt. This improvement in the drying step achieves a reduced need for salt substitution.
The DPSH device is a valid economic alternative to the classic alumina regenerative purifier (DPH).
In fact the use of hygroscopic salt (CaCl) towers, doesn't require the complex automated commutation valves circuits characterizing the DPH depurator; leading to a simpler electrical control interfaces.
DPSH device is recommended in all these applications requiring a drying value up to -45°C and allowing some brief break for salt substitution.
