DES SALT DRIER (CaCL)

The chemical adsorption drier DES, is perhaps the simpler and most economical device to dry the gas HYDROGEN and/or OXYGEN supplied by ON-SITE electrolytic generators.

This device allows to reach a dew point up to -40°C, therefore is useful valid for all the 'flame' applications and many other processes which do not require particularly high purity.

DES device function is based on the humidity absorption (contained as vapour into the gas), through special hygroscopic salt (anhydrous calcium chloride shaped by compression in particular geometric);

  • the water contained into the humid gas, reacts chemically with the salts, thus the resulting moisture falls on the bottom of the drier tower and is periodically purged.

    The chemical absorption drier DES needs, due to its design, of a periodic maintenance involving the substitution or addition of hygroscopic salts in the towers (the salts in fact is consumed in the reaction with water) : the good function of the device is slightly influenced by the hygroscopic salts efficiency.
